28 things I wish I knew before 28
You are your best friend, no matter what; never forget that.
Mental health is essential, no two mental illnesses are the same, not even the same diagnosis for two people.
Not all mental health issues get diagnosed.
Everybody has mental health: It could be good, okay or bad.
Have your core, i.e. something you believe in that is greater than yourself.
Have your close network, i.e. people you can reach out to when you require things, advice, counsel and everything in between.
Keep in touch with friends, colleagues and family: if communicating with some folks makes you uncomfortable, don’t do it.
Keep learning: it doesn’t have to be academic; it could be Youtube videos, Udemy, Coursera etc.
Keep earning: Never assume you have reached a pinnacle of success that you stop earning.
Have a side hustle if you work 9–5: layoffs are real, and they affect us all negatively.
Celebrate your wins: Share them on social media if you want, and let the endorphins rise.
Family is important
Have friends and connections: keep in touch
Explore where you live, don’t hold on trip till you go to a new destination.
Take pictures, and preserve memories, even if you don't upload them online.
Comment on friends' pictures; don’t just be a viewer; make someone’s day.
When you comment, don’t be a troll on your friends or celebrities' posts
Be content, don’t be envious: be ambitious, though.
Don’t condone injustice, dishonesty and immorality.
Always wear a smile and perfume when you are meeting people.
Wear what you are comfortable in; I don’t wear heels; I wear wedges.
Drink more water, and avoid juices and alcohol when you can.
Eat more protein, and avoid carbs when you can.
Walk 30 minutes minimum daily.
Read books: try to read 10 pages a day.
Write: Try to write for 30 minutes a day.
Sleep and wake at the same time every day.
Don’t pick up your phone first thing in the morning
